Monday Sundries: Back to Earth with a bump

Monday Sundries are otherwise known as ‘I’m rather brain dead right now and ill just update you on my life instead of writing anything’. Basically it’s the lazy blogging option, anyways…

Last week…

  • Was rather depressing as it was back to work after 2 weeks off seeing my brother and 11 days in Greece with my family. It was a bit of a bump to say the least.
  • Whilst I must admit my sister’s kids are hugely tiring, I am also grateful for the time I had with them as I’m loving seeing them grow up before my eyes. Skype is amazing but just not the same as getting a big cuddle (1)
  • However, Saturday was my mothers errr 65th birthday and she’d planned a birthday BBQ (brave) which, because of the the travel involved we weren’t attending. Well as far as the mother new anyways. We surprised her at 10.30pm in the pub after a horrendous drive down because of the pelting rain and wind. It was lovely to see her face light up. It was even more lovely to see my 3.5 year old nephew’s face the next morning when he realised his best pal B was sleeping in the lounge!
  • With an Aussie in charge (and B as sous chef) the birthday BBQ went off without a hitch, despite the heavy grey skies. You can just see the veggie skewers I spent all of Saturday morning making. Yum. (2)
  • Sunday saw the annual village fete on the park across the road from our house (3) Tug of war, children’s rides, Shetland Ponies, vintage cars, races and my favourite – the duck race! Run by my dad of course. Dad also made an Olympic torch which, complete with a 2 gold medal winner (forgot her name) opened up the fete. I’m afraid we were in chokes of laughter to see her holding it on the podium! Especially after my nephew had been running around the house with it beforehand (4)
  • The best thing about village fetes has to be the beer tent. Ours is epically good (5) however I didn’t get to sample many as we had to begin the long drive home.
  •  Finally, I’ll leave you with this picture of my nephew, my favourite picture (6) of the whole weekend, what a naughty cutie he is…

This week…

We are seeing the events manager at our wedding venue, celebrating a 30th birthday, going out for a delayed birthday tea (for me) at the Smoke Stack and I’m attending an event to congratulate me on being nominated for another award! Im also on a diet as i am having my engagement photos taken in 4 weeks so look out for some healthy food Friday recipes to come…

What are you up to? How was your week?
