How You Can Help: Maggie’s Glasgow Pop Up Centres
What? Two posts in one day? (the other one is here) madness… well, I won’t apologise for this one, as this is for a very good cause and one close to both B and Is heart…
Cancer. 1 in 3 people will get cancer in their lifetime. You will probably know someone suffering now from anyone of the over 200 types of cancer out there. I personally know 2 people who have recently thankfully fought off breast cancer and many more who sadly, haven’t. Because of this B and I both donate to helping cure cancer every month.
But in Scotland, we have help. Amazing help. We have Maggie’s Centres. From the 6 Maggie’s centre’s in Scotland–Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness and Fife and two in Glasgow – we, you, everyone can receive a FREE programme of practical, emotional and psychological support to help cope with cancer – and you do – in 2011, Maggies received over 100,000 visits through their doors.
This weekend Maggies are taking the work of the two Glasgow centres out into the community, bringing the Maggies experience to you, by constructing a real life ‘pop-up’ Maggie’s Centre at Buchanan Galleries today (28th) and tomorrow (29th) and the St Enoch Centre on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July. So if you are in Glasgow shopping this weekend, look out for with Maggie’s staff and volunteers for a unique insight into the vital work that Maggie’s charity does in caring for the community.
However, if you aren’t in Glasgow this weekend, you can still help.
Glasgow’s two Maggie’s centres, Gatehouse and Gartnavel, were funded by you, out there – via a £500,000 Glasgow Evening Times Campaign and £2.7 million via the Edinburgh Moonwalk. But a Maggie’s Centre costs over £3000 a day to run. You can donate via the Maggie’s Centres Website.
I have, it only takes £10 to sponsor a special place at Maggie’s.

Thanks to Maggies Centres who passed on this news to give out to you.
